TAKE ACTION!

"If it's too expensive to extract the oil in an environmentally responsible way, it's too expensive to extract the oil." ~CMC

Are you asking yourself "What Can I do?" Good! Here's five things you can do:

1. Vote smart: go to vote together.ca, enter your postal code, you'll see what riding you're in, who the candidates are--and which candidate has the best chance of defeating the Conservatives, who are the authors of this disaster scenario.

2. Go to sumofus.org and sign their online petition--it's easy--just do it!

3. Go to candidate appearances and ask them publicly what they intend to do about this--or in the case of the conservatives, "How can you justify this insane non-plan?"

4.Write to the Boards--both the Offshore petroleum board (click HERE for contact information), and the Shell Oil Board of directors--especially if you're a stockholder (click HERE for list of Shell board members, directors, officers, and contact information).

Ask the the members of the CNSOPB, "How can you be protecting the environment, when you allow Shell to put at risk the breeding grounds of whales, seals, many species of birds, not to mention the people who make their living from a clean ocean?"

Or: "If you're so smart, why haven't you learned anything from the BP Deepwater Disaster?"

Or: "With your obvious conflicts of interest, how can you justify sacrificing sustainable fisheries employment for the sake of short-lived oil extraction jobs--only a quarter of those jobs promised to Nova Scotians, and fully half going to non-Canadians!"

You get the idea…  also, email is good--hand-written paper letters are even better.

5. SHARE THIS VIDEO with everyone you can think of who cares about preserving the natural world.

It comes down to this: does this world belong to all of us, or has it been stolen by the filthy rich, i.e. those who have become richer by making the world a dirtier place.
